You have led yourself and your family well for years, and it shows.
Your marriage is one of the best you know of. Your kids actually like being in your house. You have built a family culture your entire family loves.
And your leadership does not stop at home.
Other people’s lives are better because of how you lead. You have built, led, taught, employed, discipled, mentored, or created something that produces real fruit in other people’s lives.
But now you need the right peers.
You look around your church, your business, your client groups, your friendships, and you feel like the tip of the spear.
Others may be impressed with you, but you’re not impressed with yourself. You know that God has called you to even more.
You have grown as far as your current room can take you, and that bothers you.
You know there is a way to keep leveling up, and you know you are not getting there by yourself.
The Captain’s Council is where you start growing again.
What it is
A brotherhood of Christian husbands and fathers that I’m assembling for the first time.
I choose the men carefully, because the quality of the Council depends on the quality of the men in it.
I’m in the room too and I’ll take the lead when it’s useful. My teaching, coaching, TFC frameworks… my very best… will all be at your disposal. And I’ll expect every man in the Council to bring his best, too.
This is a high-level brotherhood built around leading your family extraordinarily well, for men who want to think in centuries, not just quarters.
We are thinking beyond raising “good” kids who become “good” adults.
We are building families that will remain faithful and influential for generations: men and women who know and follow Jesus for themselves, build wealth and steward it well, start churches, ministries, businesses and institutions, destroy darkness, establish the Kingdom, and are proud to carry forward a family name worth inheriting.
But thinking in centuries does not mean ignoring the life right in front of you.
There is still another level in the life you are leading right now.
There are deeper levels of respect, passion and unity available in a great marriage.
Great fathers keep learning how to lead their children well as they grow.
Strong men keep expanding their capacity in wisdom, discipline, leadership, and stewardship.
So we will maximize all of it.
Your fellowship with Jesus. Your marriage. Your sex life. Your family culture. Your children. Your leadership. Your business. Your calling. Your friendships. Your health. Your revenue. Your ministry. Your habits. Your legacy.
Sometimes the focus may be on how you are shaping your family for the next hundred years.
Sometimes it may be about your bloodwork.
It’s all part of the same life, led by the same man.
And when you put a group of unusually capable men together who are serious about leading that whole life extraordinarily well, everybody gets better.
Together, we’ll pursue the horizon and sharpen this one life we’re living right now.
And part of leading your family at that level is being intensely deliberate about the soil they are growing in.
Your family needs the right peers too.
The families you put around your wife and children will either make them think “We’re doing pretty well, this is enough.” Or “Wow, that’s inspiring and I want to learn from them.”
They should be around other families whose big faith stories, marriages, children, habits, traditions and vision make them want to become better.
Who is the Captain’s Council for?
A Christian husband and father. Your children could be young or grown. You have built a family culture your entire family genuinely loves.
A sincere follower of Jesus, seriously. Scripture is the authority in your life and house. Not culture, not your wife.
Your sex life is healthy, even if there is room for it to get better.
Your leadership produces real fruit beyond your own household. Business and ministry are two ways that could show up. There may be others.
You have something worth bringing to the table. There is at least one area of life or leadership where you have done enough, learned enough, and succeeded enough that you could lead and make the other men in this room significantly better.
You can receive a strong word without being offended, give one without fear, and laugh at yourself.
Who it is not for
A man in crisis who needs to stop the bleeding.
A man whose eyes are on the weaknesses of others instead of his own opportunities for obedience and growth.
A man protecting a secret addiction, ongoing sin, or double life.
A man who only wants to consume from the group and not generously contribute.
Why should you apply?
You should only apply if what you have read above describes you.
There are no promised outcomes. No curriculum, no certificate.
This is a brotherhood of men you cannot currently find, centered around the most important leadership responsibility God has given you: your family.
The man who already understands that value needs no further explanation.
